I grew up in Belfast through a time of profound individual and collective trauma and resilience for many of us - loss, conflict, violence, change, and the potential for deeper individual and collective connection and transformation. I was drawn to becoming a professional activist, researcher, Gestalt practitioner and psychotherapist, exploring the inner, outer and 'in-between' conditions and structures that support, and those that get in the way of authentic connection to self and others. Being a Project Leader of Parenting Matters offered opportunities to lead a groundbreaking community based initiative, that led to significant trust that allowed me to take on highly sensitive practice in the field of transgenerational trauma and social justice research and practice. I have been honoured to travel widely to work as part of specialist trauma teams in South Africa, Sri Lanka, Scandanavia, and Europe.
